Vitamin D

Some posts on the LFA message board inspired me to post about Vitamin D deficiency. For my benefit and yours.

This article from WebMD says that Vitamin D deficiency may be linked to unexplained muscle and bone pain. [link]

I read about the connection between vitamin D deficiency and depression. I also have psoriasis, and a concern for psoriatic arthritis, so I began taking 1000 international units a day, as well as a calcium supplement because I am also lactose intolerant. Vitamin D, Glucosamine/Chondroitin (for joints), and Fish Oil (Omega 3/9 fatty acids for organs/skin) are the most important supplements in my life. There are three kinds of Vitamin D, and two of them are consumable. Sometimes I drink soy milk to get both. Most people above 40 degrees North are D deficient, especially colored people. UV rays that produce vitamin D do not travel through glass, so if you live in an overcast city like Seattle, supplements may be your only hope.
